(Minghui.org) A Jinan City, Shandong Province resident was released one day after being arrested for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Jia Hongfeng, 37, was followed by the police when she went out on March 1, 2023, and police later arrested her on the street. She was handcuffed behind her back and dragged into a police car. The police also raided her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books, computer, cellphone, and hard drive.
The police took Ms. Jia to the hospital for an examination. She refused to cooperate and tried to explain the facts about Falun Gong.
As she also refused to cooperate with the police when they tried to collect her personal information, an officer surnamed Liu slammed her head against the wall. He also punched her on the head and kicked her legs. Her hands, arms, and legs were bruised.
Ms. Jia kept urging the police not to participate in the persecution. The police released her a day later, citing an order from their supervisor.
But a few days later on March 6, several officers harassed her again and attempted to collect her personal information from her neighbor.
Mother’s Persecution
Ms. Jia grew up in the countryside. When she was little, her mother suffered many ailments and was constantly in bad mood due to the physical suffering. Ms. Jia was constantly worried that her mother would fight with her father again.
Ms. Jia’s mother began practicing Falun Gong in 1996. She regained her health and stopped fighting with her husband. She took on many household chores, including farming work. She also cooked for an elderly relative every day and delivered the food to him.
Ms. Jia’s mother was arrested in early 2002 and given a three-year term at the Jiangshuiquan Forced Labor Camp. The police extorted 1,000 yuan from the family.
Having learned from her mother to be a good person following Falun Gong’s principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, then 16-year-old Ms. Jia cooked food for that elderly relative. She did so every day during the three years when her mother was in the labor camp.
