(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 7 cities or counties in 5 provinces, where at least 8 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
1. [Beipiao City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhao Zhongxia Arrested
2. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Zhang Jiuhong and Her Sister Ms. Zhang Yilin Held in Detention Center
3. [Nong’an City, Jilin Province] Ms. Xu Shuyun Sentenced to Prison
4. [Dehui City, Jilin Province] Ms. Zheng Sizhi Arrested
5. [Linghai City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Tian Xiu’e’s Home Ransacked
6. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Zhao Yungu Arrested
7. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Dong Xueyan’s Home Ransacked
1. [Beipiao City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhao Zhongxia Arrested
Four officers from the Beipiao City Domestic Security Division broke into Ms. Zhao Zhongxia’s home in Longtan Township and arrested her on January 4, 2024. Ms. Zhao is being held in Xidayingzi Detention Center. The police plan to detain her for 15 days.
2. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Zhang Jiuhong and Her Sister Ms. Zhang Yilin Held in Detention Center
Ms. Zhang Jiuhong and her sister Ms. Zhang Yilin from Chongzhou City were reported to the police on December 29, 2023, when they were talking to people about Falun Gong on the street in Longxing Town, Chongzhou City. They were arrested by officers from the Longxing Town Police Station. The police escorted them back to their respective homes, ransacked their homes, and confiscated all their Falun Gong books.
Ms. Zhang Yilin is being held in Xingdalu Detention Center, Yongsheng Town, Wenjiang District, Chengdu City. Ms. Zhang Jiuhong is being held at Xingdalu Lockup Center, Yongsheng Town.
3. [Nong’an City, Jilin Province] Ms. Xu Shuyun Sentenced to Prison
Officers from the Fulongquan Town Police Station broke into Ms. Xu Shuyun’s home on March 10, 2023, and asked her to spit because they were collecting her saliva. She refused and was taken to the detention center. She was subsequently sentenced to one year in prison, and taken to Jilin Women’s Prison. Her sentence will end on March 9, 2024.
4. [Dehui City, Jilin Province] Ms. Zheng Sizhi Arrested
Ms. Zheng Sizhi was arrested on January 5, 2024, by people from the Dehui City 610 Office, the Domestic Security Division of Dehui City Police Department, and the Shengli Street Police Station.
5. [Linghai City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Tian Xiu’e’s Home Ransacked
Officers from Jianye Township Police Station arrived in two police cars at Ms. Tian Xiu’e’s home in Gaofangzi Village, Dayou Township, around 11 a.m. on December 28, 2023. They ransacked the place, and confiscated all her Falun Gong books on the grounds that Falun Gong leaflets were found in a village in the area. Details are pending.
6. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Zhao Yungu Arrested
The Bin County Domestic Security Division summoned Mr. Zhao Yungu again on the afternoon of January 5, 2024, and read to him the decision of Yilan County Procuratorate not to approve his arrest due to his age and health. The police did not say if they would withdraw his case or would not prosecute him. They interrogated him again and asked him to sign the transcript in order to collect and come up with evidence against him. At around 6 p.m. Mr. Zhao was brought home.
7. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Dong Xueyan’s Home Ransacked
Ms. Dong Xueyan from Nanguan Village, Wenchang Sub-district, Laizhou City, was reported to the police by a middle school student on December 3, 2023, when she told the student Falun Gong facts in her store and handed him a desk calendar. Shortly after, several officers from Yong’an Police Station broke in with the desk calendar. They ransacked the store without saying a word, and confiscated some Falun Gong books, Minghui Weekly magazines, and several desk calendars.
Ms. Dong was taken to the police station. They repeatedly pressured her to tell them who gave her the confiscated items, and other informational materials. They also asked if she still practiced Falun Gong. They made a transcript and ordered her to sign it. She was released that day.
