(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 10 cities or counties in 5 provinces, where at least 23 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Li Jian (gender unknown) was sentenced to three years and six months in prison by the Fumeng County Court on November 13, 2023. Li appealed to the Fuxin City Intermediate Court on November 20, 2023. Li’s family learned on December 27, 2023 that the presiding judge Gu Kunping rejected the appeal and upheld the original verdict without permission from the collegial panel on December 12, 2023.
Ms. Qiu Youqin was sent to a women’s detention center, where she is subjected to brainwashing every day.
Mr. Zhou Wei was scheduled to be tried in the Chengguan District Court on January 25, 2024.
Mr. Chen Deguang from Honggu District was scheduled to be tried in the Chengguan District Court at 10 a.m. on January 25, 2024.
Ms. Qi Jie was previously arrested. She was recently constantly harassed at home by Kongtong District police. Ms. Qi left her home to avoid the persecution.
Eight practitioners were arrested on the morning of January 9, 2024. They are Ms. Wang Fengzhi, 78; Ms. Yao Shuping, 68; Ms. Jia Kaibo, in her 40s (she is Ms. Yao Shuping’s daughter); Ms. Ren Shuxiang, 77; Ms. Fu Guiqin, 78; Ms. Bing Shufen, in her 70s; Ms. Li Guiyun, in her 60s.
Each practitioner was detained in a room with two police officers and one “helper.” They were pressured to sign the guarantee statement and were threatened with detention if they refused. Their family members were allowed to sign on their behalf. Most of the practitioners have been released.
Ms. Shao Ying was reported to police by the community grid staff member Ge Weihan and was taken to the No. 2 Police Station at 9 a.m. on January 11, 2024. She was pressured to sign the three statements, which she firmly refused. She was released at 3 p.m.
Six practitioners from Xinji Town in Changli County were arrested and taken to the Funing District Procuratorate on January 22, 2024. They are Mr. Wang Qinghua, Ms. Wang Ying, Mr. Chen Dong, Ms. Bai Hanzhi, Ms. Xuan Xiaowen, and Li Jinhua. Mr. Chen Dong was placed under residential surveillance. The others were placed under bail pending trial. None of them signed the related documents. All the practitioners have returned home.
Two practitioners from Dasiping Township, Ms. Sun Shaohua and Ms. Qiu Hong, were reported to police for talking to people about Falun Gong in Jianchang Town in Benxi City and were arrested by officers from the Jianchang Police Station on the morning of January 20, 2024. Ms. Sun Shaohua was placed under 15-day detention and fined 1,000 yuan. She was sent to the Benxi City Detention House. Ms. Qiu Hong was released.
Ms. Liu Lanying was arrested by officers from the Lubei Police Station when she distributed calendars near Yirancheng on December 28, 2023. The police ransacked her home that evening and confiscated some amulets and USB drives. Ms. Liu was allowed to stay home and was told to wait to be notified.
The police went to Ms. Liu’s home at 9:30 p.m. on January 21, 2024, and told her she was placed under 9-day administrative detention. After Ms. Liu’s family told them that she was not there, the police left.
Several plainclothes officers went to Ms. Gao Jingui’s home at around 7 a.m. on June 18, 2023. They came because they said Ms. Gao, around 80, published articles online. The police ransacked her home and confiscated the photo of Falun Gong’s founder, Falun Gong books, a media player, etc. They called Ms. Gao’s son who was in a meeting. Her daughter-in-law went to the police department and signed some documents on Ms. Gao’s behalf, which Ms. Gao refused to acknowledge.
