(Minghui.org) A Jieyang City, Guangdong Province resident has been sentenced to three years for her faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999.
Ms. Zhao Dexiu was arrested at home on June 19, 2023, after being reported for talking to people about Falun Gong. Chengbei Police Station agents also seized her one-year-old granddaughter, who she was babysitting. Her son and daughter-in-law returned to an empty home and realized she had been arrested after going through their home surveillance camera and seeing an officer turning the camera to a different direction. It became clear to the couple that the police were trying to avoid being recorded arresting Ms. Zhao.
The Jiedong City Court tried Ms. Zhao on November 24, 2023 and convicted her a few weeks later. The same court had previously sentenced at least 19 other local practitioners since 2020 for practicing Falun Gong.

Ms. Zhong Liena, 71, was sentenced to four years in September 2023.
Ms. Li Miaozhu, around 50, was sentenced to two years after her arrest was approved on January 17, 2023.

Ms. Yao Jingjiao, 85, was sentenced to three years in November 2022.
2 Sentenced in 2021
Ms. Wang Jiechun was sentenced to nine months in early 2021.
Ms. Zhong Peizhen, 80, was sentenced to two and a half years in September 2021.
9 Sentenced in 2020
Ms. Chen Meihua, 59, was sentenced to two years in 2020 but her term was later increased to three years.
Ms. Huang Aihua, 68, was sentenced to one year on September 11, 2020.
Ms. Wang Xirou was sentenced to one year and eight months in the second half of 2020.
Ms. Wang Yanjuan was sentenced to three years and one month in the second half of 2020.
Ms. Lu Qiaoli was sentenced to four and a half years in late 2020.
Ms. Huang Luanqing, in her 50s, was sentenced to two years and three months in late 2020.
Mr. Huang Jianmin and his wife Ms. Peng Wenjian were both sentenced in late 2020, with the former receiving four years and the latter three and a half years.
Ms. Wu Yujuan was sentenced to four and a half years on December 15, 2020.

Mr. Chen Hongyuan, around 72, was sentenced to nine years following his arrest on June 14, 2020.
Ms. Lin Liqin, 71, was sentenced to two years following her arrest on June 14, 2020.
Ms. Jiang Biqin, 82, was sentenced to six months following her arrest on June 14, 2020.
Ms. Zhuang Huiqing, 62, was sentenced to two and a half years following her arrest on November 27, 2020.
Ms. Chen Yonghui was sentenced to three years following her arrest on November 27, 2020.
