(Minghui.org) “I always felt I was an old soul—the memories of my past lives were not completely erased, and I searched for a way to return,” said Xie Menggui. One would never guess that the owner of a successful real estate company had a troubled beginning.
Her childhood was very difficult. Her family frequently moved and her parents often fought. She wondered what the purpose of life was. “Whenever I saw a temple, I felt I needed to pay my respect to Buddha.” She felt like she was always searching for something.
Opportunity to Practice Cultivation
Xie Menggui did well in her studies as a child and after she was accepted into a university in Taiwan, she began looking into various beliefs, “I read the Bible, books on numerology and philosophy and tried several cultivation ways but I still had many unanswered questions.”
After she graduated, she worked as a real estate agent because she wanted to buy a house for her parents. Her performance was outstanding and she became the youngest person to own a real estate company in Taiwan. She later decided to obtain a license to practice Chinese medicine. A classmate introduced her to the main book of Falun Dafa – Zhuan Falun.
“I finished reading Zhuan Falun on January 31, 2002. I then bought all the Dafa books.” She said she was thrilled to find an upright cultivation practice that answered all her questions.
Xie Menggui does the fifth Falun Dafa exercise – the meditation.
Overcoming Tribulations
She studied hard hoping to become a Chinese medicine doctor. Her father became ill and needed a large sum of money to treat his illness. Since she used up all her savings to prepare for her examination, she had to borrow money from relatives to help her father. In 2005, she broke up with her boyfriend of 6 years. This almost broke her.
“I thought I was strong, but I felt I could not take it any longer. I even thought of ending my life.” When she looked at Master’s portrait she burst into tears and said, “I can’t take it any longer, Master please help me.”
She read the Fa and did the exercises with other practitioners every day, “I told myself to have faith in Dafa, I came through this by relying on Master and the power of Dafa.”
After she pulled herself together she resumed being a real estate agent. This time, she chose to deal in the luxury properties in Taipei which she was new to. She did not have any contacts among high-end clientele and worked more than 10 hours every day. She approached every household in the community to offer her real estate services.
After working hard for 6 months, she finally saw results, and people asked for her business card. One client introduced Menggui to other relatives who asked her to help them buy a house. They became her good friends.
Winning Clients Through Honesty and Reliability
It’s not easy to gain the trust of people from the upper level of society or to have them let someone handle their assets. Yet, Menggui won the trust of clients with high net assets. One client told her, “Ms. Xie, you don’t behave like the usual agent.”
Some real estate agents lie to win transactions. But Menggui conducts herself according to the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance and only speaks the truth. She said, “I’m a practitioner, and I cannot lie. The service I provide is honest.”
For example, a standard document requires the signature of the client. Most agents sign the document on behalf of their client but Menggui felt she shouldn’t do this, “I cannot sign on their behalf, the document must be signed by the client.”
This may seem like a minor issue but through her honesty, clients see how Menggui follows the law even in the smallest details.
If she does not know the answer to her clients’ questions, she does not pretend she knows everything. She tries her best to resolve problems by consulting lawyers or accountants.
“Master told us we must think of others. We should try to be truthful, kind, and tolerant.” Menggui says her clients’ demands are her top priority. Her clients trust her and some even invite her to attend their family holidays.
Her honest behavior won Menggui the trust of high end clients.
Choosing to Forgive
However things did not always go smoothly. Recently, a long time colleague who she trusted took all the credit for a major case that Menggui worked on for many years. She lost several millions and the hardest part was being betrayed by an old, trusted friend. When she asked a lawyer for advice, he told her because she had an agreement, if she filed a lawsuit, her chances of winning were high.
Menggui realized that a practitioner’s time is precious, “Perhaps I owed her in a past lifetime and I need to repay the debt. I should let things take their natural course.”
Menggui passes by the building related to this case every day. At first, she felt pained every time she looked at it. She later felt nothing. “I am truly grateful to Master. Because I practice cultivation, I no longer feel upset by the loss. If I did not practice Falun Dafa, I would sue her because I have evidence or I might use other means to seek revenge. However, I truly let things go.”
Letting Go of Her Pride When Resolving Conflicts with Employees
At one point Menggui’s employees misunderstood her. She was caught up with other things and did not have time to attend company meetings. This led her colleagues to think negatively of her and the atmosphere at work became tense.
She looked within and found she had a high and mighty attitude towards her employees. She decided to let go of her ego and attachment to fame and gain and her notions about her colleagues.
“I began by sincerely apologizing to them and I explained the misunderstanding. I also tried to attend their activities so that they know how I deal with things.” After she changed her behavior, Menggui observed that conflicts with her colleagues disappeared and everyone worked together amicably.
Menggui considers herself fortunate to have found the meaning of life and the way home she had been searching for since she was a child. She is delighted to be able to put into practice Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance in her daily life.
