(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 10 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 16 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Jiang Xiaoyan Persecuted in Prison
Ms. Jiang Xiaoyan from Shuangcheng City was sentenced to prison for 14 years. She is currently detained in a prison hospital. Her family’s request to visit her was denied by the prison at the beginning in February 2024. Her family refused to give up until they were allowed to see her. They had not seen her for five years since she was incarcerated. They noticed that Ms. Jiang was very thin and lost almost all of her teeth.
When her family tried to visit her again in April 2024, their request was rejected with the excuse that Ms. Jiang refused to be brainwashed and therefore, could not be visited for three months.
2. [Beijing] Ms. Fan Jirong Persecuted
Ms. Fan Jirong, 63, was sentenced to four years in prison by the No.1 Intermediate Court of Beijing on March 10, 2021. Because of her poor health Ms. Fan was placed under residential surveillance. Her condition deteriorated and she passed away on February 15, 2024. Her family was visited by a few staff members from the Yanqing District Court on February 23, 2024, and received her verdict again.
3. [Tianjin] Ms. Li Chunyuan Arrested and Detained
Ms. Li Chunyuan, in her 50s, lives in Ziyunyuan Community in No. 3 Xingang Road, Binhai New District. She was arrested at home by officers from the Central Business Zone Police Station at noon, on April 14, 2024. Her home was ransacked. The police confiscated her computer, cell phone, Falun Gong books, cash, etc. Ms. Li is currently held in a detention center.
4. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Liu Peng and Wang Bingcheng to Be Released
After they were tried in the Qiaoxi District Court, Liu Peng and Wang Bingcheng appealed their cases but the original verdicts were upheld by the Shijiazhuang Intermediate Court on December 7, 2023.
Liu Peng and Wang Bingcheng are currently held in the No. 2 Detention Center of Shijiazhuang City and will be released on April 21, 2024.
5. [Xuchang City, Henan Province] Zheng Shuangxi Arrested
Elderly Zheng Shuangxi and another practitioner were arrested for talking to people about Falun Gong a week ago. The details are unknown.
6. [Dehui City, Jilin Province] Ms. Wang Harassed
Ms. Wang was harassed at home by officers from the Jianshe Police Station on March 1, 2024. The police took some photos. Her husband received a harassing phone call on April 14, 2024.
7. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. He Mingying Arrested and Detained
Ms. He Mingying was found to be a practitioner when her ID was scanned at the Shenyang Railway Station at the end of November 2023. She was body searched and 500 yuan of paper bills imprinted with Falun Gong facts were found. Ms. He was arrested and detained for 15 days in the No. 1 Detention Center of Shenyang City. She was later released on bail pending trial.
Ms. He was summoned to the Xiushuihe Police Station on March 18, 2024. She was arrested and taken to the No. 1 Detention Center.
8. [Gaizhou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Liu Feng Arrested and Detained
Ms. Liu Feng was arrested by officers from the Taiyangsheng Police Station for talking to people about Falun Gong and distributing truth clarifying materials. It is unknown where Ms. Liu is detained.
9. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Tang Xiumin Harassed
Ms. Tang Xiumin was harassed at home by police including Deputy Director Li from the Kaixuan Police Station on April 12, 2024. She was photographed.
10. [Hengyang City, Hunan Province] Ten Practitioners Arrested
Ten practitioners including Mr. Zhou Zixian were recently arrested. The details are unknown.
11. [Chongqing] Li Xingming and Zhang Shengquan Persecuted in Prison
Li Xingming from Yunyang County was sentenced to three years in prison and is currently detained in No. 8 Ward, Yongchuan Prison. Zhang Chengquan from Chongqing was sentenced to nine years in prison and is also detained there. Many practitioners have been persecuted in the No. 8 Ward of Yongchuan Prison.
12. [Yingcheng City, Hubei Province] Mr. Zhang Di Harassed
Mr. Zhang Di is a new practitioner. He was found to have a pamphlet about Falun Gong when he worked in Xinjiang Province. The police from Xinjiang Province came to Yingcheng City of Hubei Province. They cooperated with local police and ransacked Mr. Zhang’s home. They confiscated a Falun Gong book and fined Mr. Zhang 1000 yuan. They also harassed his family.
13. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Ms. Qi Xiaoxia Harassed
Ms. Qi Xiaoxia received a harassing call from the Tianyuan Neighborhood Committee in Xinhua District in 2022. They pressured her to sign some papers and told her not to go out to distribute Falun Gong-related materials.
Ms. Qi’s family received a harassing call from the local neighborhood committee on March 22, 2024.
Two officers including Fan Haiying from Xinhua Police Department and one member from the local neighborhood committee knocked on Ms. Qi’s door on March 24, 2024.
