Practitioners held an event at Warsaw’s Old Town Square on May 12, 2024 to celebrate World Falun Dafa Day.
Practitioners held events to celebrate World Falun Dafa Day and wish Master Li, the founder of Falun Dafa, a happy birthday.
The event started with group exercises at the Warsaw Old Town Square. It was a sunny day with a refreshing spring breeze. Practitioners began a parade from the Royal Castle, passed near the renowned St. John’s Cathedral, the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, and the Nicolaus Copernicus Monument before reaching their destination at Plac Pięciu Rogów.
Impressed by the banners such as “Falun Dafa Is Good” and “Stop Persecuting Falun Gong” as well as the dragon dance, many people stopped to watch and take pictures or videos. They also accepted informational materials and some asked where they could learn the exercises.
Two Chinese girls were surprised to see Polish practitioners doing the dragon dance. “It looks great! How can they know the Chinese culture?” one of them exclaimed. “Their T-shirts have the words, ‘Falun Dafa is good.’ Do they also practice?” the other one said.
A practitioner explained that Falun Dafa is practiced in over 100 countries and practitioners read the main teachings of Zhuan Falun which is available in many languages. In addition to sharing benefits received from Falun Dafa herself, the practitioner also cleared up misconceptions caused by defamatory propaganda from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). The two girls nodded, thanked her, and said they would read more about the practice.
A Chinese man visited the Old Town with his family. He smiled at a practitioner and said he knew about Falun Dafa. “It’s interesting that so many Polish people are learning Falun Dafa and traditional Chinese culture, but the CCP badly suppresses this practice,” he said. “The Party is so bad and I hope it ends soon.”
One young Polish couple said they liked the exercise demonstration very much and wanted to know where they could learn the exercises. A practitioner gave them the contact information for the nearest practice site and they said they would come next week.
Mariola Klimczak and her husband
Mariola Klimczak is a teacher and her husband is a government officer in southern Poland. They were surprised to hear such a peaceful meditation system is brutally suppressed in China with detention, torture, and even forced organ harvesting. Mariola said the atrocities must end and her husband agreed that such tragedies should not happen in this world.
The couple also appreciated the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance saying they will bring us a better society. Both Mariola and her husband encouraged practitioners to continue their efforts so that more people would help to end the persecution.
Marta Przybyszewska is from northeast Poland
Marta Przybyszewska is an accountant and she came from an ancient town in northeast Poland. She was vacationing in Warsaw, and was delighted to see Falun Dafa practitioners and the event. She read a pamphlet, and said she believed the practice could help improve peoples’ physical health and character.
Marta said she knows Falun Dafa is suppressed in China and praised practitioners for their perseverance. She said it’s important to tell people what’s going on in China so the international community will awaken.
Business owner Artur Siemiński
Artur Siemiński lives in Warsaw and owns a business. He enjoyed the parade and agreed with the words on the banners. He said that by persecuting a large number of innocent Falun Dafa practitioners for their belief the CCP regime was similar to Hitler. He also said it’s unfortunate that many people only care about their own interests and ignore something so important.
Siemiński said such an event is great and it helps people know what’s happening in China. He looks forward to more activities like this because, only by following the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance can we have a better future.
Practitioners took a group photo at Plac Pięciu Rogów, the destination of the parade.
