(Minghui.org) Mr. Li Wei, 47, from Changchun City was arrested on his way to work on June 3, 2013. He was tortured during interrogation, secretly tried and sentenced to five years in prison on December 10, 2013.
He was transferred to the Jilin Province Prison on April 15, 2014. His family went to visit him the next day, but prison officials refused to allow the visit. They claimed that he was very weak because of a pre-existing health condition.
According to his family members, he had no health issues before he arrived at the prison. They were worried and refused to leave until they were able to see him. The prison officials eventually allowed them to talk to him over the phone.
Mr. Li told them that he had a headache and was dizzy after a group of inmates beat him his first night in the prison. After hearing that, the family members demanded to see Mr. Li in person.
When they were finally able to see him, he seemed to be extremely weak and bruised.
Persecuted in Prison
The prison guards did not allow him to purchase personal items in the prison although his family members asked for it many times.
He was forced to sit on a small stool and was beaten by inmate Gong Xiangxin on December 28, 2014.
He fell when trying to pick up his socks on January 25, 2015, and had a headache for a couple of days. He was still forced to sit on a small stool for a long time.
Besides being forced to sit on a stool, inmate Jin Dongxi put ice on his neck and did not allow him to move until it had completely melted.
His health has deteriorated while in prison. He is very weak and emaciated. Yet, he is still tortured. He appealed his mistreatment to higher authorities several times, but has yet to receive a response. His family has appealed to the Jilin Province High Court.
